It's Coming to an End...

Today is my last real day of freedom before I go back to school....if you don't count Sunday because I go to church and well, sometimes it just doesn't really feel like a day off. I have to admit, I am bummed about going back to teaching. Don't get me wrong - I love those little troublemakers. But having some time to do whatever I want has been so dreamy. I'm just not ready to give it up.

Teaching is a lot of work. I don't think most people realize how time consuming and thought consuming it is. Yes, school may end at 3:00 pm each day during the week and yes, teachers get some awesome holiday breaks. But I don't think teachers ever really stop thinking about their job. They think about what they need to plan, how they can differentiate their lessons so that they are reaching the individual needs of each student, what needs to be copied, who is struggling and who needs to be challenged, and the thoughts just never really end. So those awesome holiday breaks and the entire summer off? Teachers earn that time off every single day they are at school.

So I earned my break and I enjoyed every minute of it! What does a holiday break look like for a teacher? I'm not sure...but this is what it looked like for me!
